Booking a roof inspection

What happens when you ask us to look at your roof: booking, the visit, the written report afterwards, and how to change or cancel.

About these terms

These terms explain how a roof inspection works when you book one with Cityline Roofing Expert Ltd — through this website, by telephone, by WhatsApp or by email. They are not terms for roofing work: if we quote for work, our terms of business apply to it. Our privacy notice explains what we do with the information you give us.

Asking for an inspection does not commit you to having any work done.

The cost

Is there a charge for an inspection?

Yes. Inspection fee: £99.00. There is nothing to pay when you book — we will arrange it with you.

What an inspection is

One of our roofers visits the property and looks at the roof, to find out what is wrong, or what condition it is in, and what would put it right.

  • We look from wherever it is safe to do so: from the ground, from a ladder, from a window or, where it is safe and you agree, from the roof itself or the loft.
  • We do not take the roof apart, lift fixed coverings or test materials. Some defects cannot be seen without doing that, and we will tell you if we think there may be more than we could see.
  • An inspection is not a structural survey, an asbestos survey or a survey of the whole building. It does not include repairs: if we find something that needs attention urgently, we will tell you, and any work is agreed separately.

Booking

  • Depending on how our diary is set, a time you choose on this website is either confirmed straight away or held as a request until we confirm it. Our email tells you which, and your visit is booked once it says so.
  • If we cannot keep the time you asked for, we will contact you to arrange another.
  • When you book, please tell us anything we should know before we arrive: how to get to the roof, parking, pets, or anything that could make the visit unsafe, such as fragile roof lights or a roof you know is damaged.

On the day

  • For an inspection of the outside of the roof you do not usually need to be at home, provided we can get to it safely. If we need to go inside — into the loft, for example — someone needs to be there to let us in.
  • We will not go onto a roof when it is unsafe to do so. If the weather or safety means we have to rearrange, we will tell you as soon as we can and offer another time.
  • We take photographs during the visit, as the record of what we found.

The written report

After the visit we send you a written report of what we found, with photographs, whether or not you go ahead with any work. It says, in plain language, what we found and what we recommend.

For now, the report comes to you by email from our office — or by WhatsApp or post, if you prefer or have no email address. It does not yet appear in your own pages on this website.

The report is our honest assessment of what could be seen on the day. It describes the roof’s condition; it is not a guarantee that there are no other defects.

A quotation, if there is work to do

If work is needed, we send you a quotation with the report or afterwards. It says what we propose to do, the price, how long the quotation is open for, and the terms that apply. You do not have to accept it, and our terms of business explain how a contract is made and your right to cancel.

Changing or cancelling a visit

  • From the link in our emails you can cancel a visit, or ask us to move it, up to the cut-off shown on your booking page. After that, please telephone us on 0203 490 8265.
  • A visit we have confirmed is moved only once we have confirmed the new time with you.
  • There is no cancellation charge.
  • We may need to cancel or rearrange a visit if we cannot get safe access, if the weather makes it unsafe, or for reasons outside our control. We will tell you as soon as we can.

If it is an emergency

If water is coming in now, or something on the roof is loose and could fall, please telephone us on 0203 490 8265 rather than booking online, and tell us it is urgent.
