Urgent and diagnostic work
Repair or replace?
The honest answer is that it depends on how much of the covering has failed, not on how bad the leak looks. A single slipped slate lets in as much water as a roof that is finished, and a roof that is finished can stay dry for another two winters.
The questions that decide it are: how much of the covering is at or past the end of its life, what condition the battens and felt underneath are in, and whether the timber has been getting wet long enough to matter. Those are answered by getting up there and looking, not from the ground and not from a photograph.
There is a longer guide on making that decision, including the questions worth asking whoever quotes for it.
